About me..

I was born & raised in the Finger lakes area of Upstate NY. It was a great place to grow up, and I still have family up there. The photo to the right is a shot from the west side of Keuka Lake, which is in the shape of a Y. If you look carefully enough, you can make out the shape (imagine a Y lying horizontally. The mountainous area on the right separates the left & right parts coming out of the Y, with the "stem" going to the left...)

Summertime there is very similar to the winter here in SW Florida. The winter, though... well, let's just say that it's the reason that I decided to eventually move.

This photo was taken a few days before New Year's Eve a couple of years ago. Seeing that I grew up in this area, it's hard for me to imagine that so many of my students tell me that they have never seen snow before.

It's definitely something that everyone should experience at some point in their lives. Do yourselves a favor, though, and bring something other than shorts, a tee-shirt, and flip-flops to wear.

In case you wondering... Yes, I made a snowman on this night (it was about 3 feet tall), and more importantly had a snowball fight with my niece.

I have always enjoyed the water. I'm not sure what it is about it, but I have always been that way. To the right is a photo of my dog, Gus, on my sailboat. The photo was taken over the summer, along the sand bar just off the channel leading into Sarasota Bay at Longboat.

It's amazing how much fun you can have in an old boat (mine is from 1980) and about a buck and a half of gas for the entire year. That's the nice thing about sailing- using the wind for your fuel.

...to be continued... (you don't think I'd tell you everything all at once, did you?!?)
